Domain Registration

.RU domains can be registered online through webinterface or API.

Change of Registrant

It is not possible to change the registrant of a .RU domain through our system. You have to sent the original letters by post to the registry. Further information can be found at: http://www.nic.ru/dns/docs/en/dom_red.html

Domain Renewal

As .RU domains can only be registered on a yearly basis, they cannot be renewed explicitly. To renew an .RU domain you have to set the domain renewal mode or default renewal mode to "AUTORENEW" or "RENEWONCE".

Deletion Process

Besides the deletion request through our system you have to sent an original cancelation letter by post to the registry. Further information can be found at: http://www.nic.ru/dns/docs/en/termination.html

Restrictions

* We only offer .RU registrations for organizations.
* The contact organization must contain a legal entity.
* Abreviations of names are not allowed. Full first name and last name is required.
* RU-Center does not allow to change an existing handle. Please always create a new handle if you want to change contact data.
* The nameserver list must contain at least two nameservers in different Class C networks.
* Please make sure that a valid and working email address is given in the contact handles used for registrations or modifications, as this is checked for by the registry. If the email address is not working you will receive an error 402.

Transfers

.RU transfers can not be done through our API system and are officially not supported. However it is possible.

Transfer procedure

* You have to arrange the complete transfer with Nic.Ru yourself. Therefore you will need our registrar id, which is: 1594/NIC-REG
* If the transfer has been completed successfully please request the domain with the TransferDomain command. It will then be added to your account within a few hours automatically.
